Zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance
“I would remind you that extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice! And let me remind you also that moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue!” - Barry Goldwater
Good evening all,
I trust it was a good week? We have been busy, but its good busy.
As you know, earlier this week we went down to the Lonestar State for a quick concert and an alternator. Its about an 8-9 hour trip to Dallas from our place and about 30 minutes from the place where we were staying to the concert. I shit you not, the moment I popped into the truck to go to the show the damn “alternator went tits up” light came on. We made it to the show and back without any trouble, but I was less than happy.
The next morning we wrapped up at the house and got on the road about 2 hours later with a new alternator installed and money transferred into the local economy. For those of you who haven't been to Dallas:
Oh my sweet baby Jesus its big. Like 6+ million big.
Every highway is a toll road.
It seems that the dumbest drivers in the city are on the ”George Bush Turnpike”. There is a joke in there if you dig hard enough. Ok….you don’t have to dig that hard.
4. Gas is cheap in Texas. How’s that fuel price working out for you out west?
Next topic:
The leaves are in full “early fall” mode now. The evenings are starting to cool down. The highs are still in the 80s and might even hit the 90s this weekend, but its supposed to cool off in a week or so. I will begin terminating the garden on Friday. The process will take a few weeks, but some of the plants are ready to be done. Insert a comment about the Byrds song here…
Ok, boomer. I prefer the original from the big guy…. (That’s Ecclesiastes 3 for my Infidel readers). But back to the topic, I expect we will do some pictures of the garden demobilization for the year as it happens.
The wife finished her tile work in the shop and I have begun to do the stove install
Like I said last week, I had to fab a fitting to get the the tee to fit to the stove outlet. It would seem that the stove and the tee have the same outer diameter. I should have the roof penetration complete and the stove ready to go pretty quick.
Not that kind of penetration you filthy minded vermin.
I did a service on my steed this past week.
Always do your maintenance with the tools you carry, so that way if you need to change a tire or fix a farkle on the side of the road you know you can. Do the same thing with your regular vehicle too.
The town shindig is this weekend. This is the biggest thing that happens in Gainesville every year and the locals are just fit to be tied about it. Yes, “Hootin’ and Hollarin’” is this weekend. We went last year. There was one ‘ol boy that has is whisky still set up in front of the gorram courthouse last year. No shit. Running and everything. The cops didn’t care, the judge didn’t care… I’m sure I’ll find a deep-fried stick of butter or an Oreo corndog or something else ridiculously healthy. I’m sure it will be quite a hoot (see what i did there?).
There are other things going on right now as we speak, but I have been informed by the Minister of Information that I am not to discuss them until next week. Security and all.
Ask me no questions, and I will tell you no lies.
That’s about it here. Here is a picture of the moon rising last night.
Until next week, here is your meme to melt your soul, or make you laugh.
