Happy Thursday all!
While yes, I am yet another year older this week, this is not the birthday I am referring to in my clickbait title. I’m talking about this one..
If you ever spent any time at Ft. Riley, than you know you simply can’t have one song without the other one… ‘cause…..tradition.
250 years this Saturday. Happy Birthday Army! It sounds like there is going to be a big ‘ol parade this weekend in DC. Bet it will be fun to watch, and if the Army is anything like I remember it - it will purely suck to be IN the parade. Guess who has ten fingers and isn’t participating in ANY of the party? Everyone below E7.
So now that I have that out of the way, back to our regularly scheduled blog post.
As mentioned earlier in this post, yes, I am one year older now.
My daughter made me cake that will cause you to go into diabetic shock like RIGHT NOW. I mean there is still some of it in the freezer, that’s how rich it is (that and credible threats of violence against people who eat my damn cake).
So for those of you keeping track that’s three cakes in one week. I know I speak for myself here, but I’m about sugared out for a little while.
Lets see…what else if going on here?
Well… I’ve been trying to get a “real job”. Had an interview this week even. We will see if I end up working for The Man (R) again. I’m still contracting, just looking for a new thing. It’s a part of the “secret plan”. I can’t tell you what it is, ‘cause it’s a secret. You will just have to stick around to see what happens. This is what we call a “teaser” in influencer training.
I guess stay tuned for more. Eventually.
I made some parts for the screen doors this past week. It turns out that we need some handles on the inside of the doors as well as on the outside.
These are 25% wood filler. They can be sanded and even stained. If you are a builder or a person who fixes stuff, I highly recommend a 3d printer. The prices are way down on this kind of stuff and you can actually make real parts with one. just sayin.
Speaking of parts made with the printer, the plants in the hydro tower are coming along nicely.
I expect to be eating off the lettuce in about 2 weeks. Some of the other starts are almost ready to go into the tower. I’ve been having a hell of a time getting stuff to germinate this year. I’m usually pretty good at this sore of thing, so it’s possible that my seeds are expiring. I tend to buy next years’ stuff this year, so that I am already ready (and they are on sale at the end of spring season), but I have a bit of a stockpile and some of these are like 4 or 5 years old.
Eventually we will have lettuce, basil, dill, cilantro, and parsley in the tower. We tend to use a lot of this stuff, especially in the summer months. We should be able to eat perpetually off of this. I can also add additional modules.
Here’s a picture of the Youngest learning to take your money playing cards.
Gotta pay for school somehow right?
Before we wrap this thing up for the week, lets talk a bit about the news of the week. As I’m sure most of you know “peaceful protest” season is upon us. Some of my readers live in major urban areas. I would highly suggest that my readers avoid these events. Whatever your beliefs about this kind of thing, crowds can be a dangerous . thing. Then they turn violent, the last place you want to be is in the middle of it. Just my two cents, take it for the unsolicited advice it is.
Until next week, don’t let The Man (R) get you down.
