Greetings all, and welcome to this weeks episode of “This ‘Ol Crackhouse.”
First things first: Friday will be the one year birthday of this little bitch.
Get it?……….‘cause it’s a female dog………..but it’s also speaking jive. Get it? I’ll be here all night folks.
I get no respect, I tell ya….
Here’s some more pictures of the little lady.
Here she is cosplaying as a construction worker.
And a lumberjack…
So yeah, 1 year. We found her in the “farm equipment” section of Craigslist for like 120 bucks. I think we got a discount because she was over 10 weeks old. Don’t worry though, what with the vet bills from that one time she jumped out of the truck at 60 mph (seriously) she’s as expensive as most teenage girls.
I’m sure that we will come up with some kind of ridiculous birthday celebration for Farm Dog®. It will likely involve ground beef and belly rubs. For her - not me, silly. In the meantime, here’s some appropriate music for the occasion.
First Sergeant (now Sergeant Major, retired) Dokes used to play this stuff like non-stop at company events. It was like our theme music…. Those were the days. Like we used to say back in the day, “If you ain’t 1, you ain’t shit”. Formal English wasn’t our bag.
And now for something completely different.
Oh come on….its a little bit funny
We went back to the millpond on Sunday. I did swim in it.
It’s fed by a spring, so yeah, its cold. I like it. The wife and kids think its too cold so we went right down the road like 200 yards and went swimming in the river. The river was warmer. It was like 84 degrees and humid as hell….so swimming is a regular thing now.
We are still in the middle of monsoon / storm season. Tuesday was a pretty serious storm day for most of the Midwest. I guess Greenfield up in Iowa straight got deleted last night. There were “multiple fatalities”. That sucks. God be with them. If y’all are interested there are charities that help in situations like this. The “Y’all squad” and “Grindstone Ministries” are two good ones. Give a little something, ya cheapskates….. its good for you.
It storms and rains like this every few days for like 15-30 minutes, and then turns hot again.
We have found Ryan Hall Y’all to be helpful for days when the weather radio goes off.
A radio like this one….. Midland WR120B I told ya we would be shakin’ it for Bezos here. But seriously, I actually have this radio in the house. I plan to put another one in the shop too.
The law requires that I mention that we receive a small commission from any purchases that you guys make off of our Amazon “influencer” account. There I said it. Don’t want no trouble with Johnny Law ya know.
What else is going on…
Well, I started construction on the workshop table. I finished printing the plastic bits I need for this job and began to assemble the table this past week.
Kinda cool huh. A printer like this one
The compound miter saw is in place now, and I hope to have the table saw in place by the end of the week. Yeah…that table saw. I’m installing a dust collection system in the table that includes a 3D printed vortex collector. There will be more on this project in future updates.
Its also our anniversary on Wednesday. 23 Years. I know…the time does pass. Sometimes it’s really fast, other times it seems like forever. It’s been a good ride though. We love each other and seem to compliment each others’ strengths and weaknesses. Almost like it’s supposed to work that way. Weird, huh? Love you Lady.
So, as I was writing this the lovely lady went and bought me a turntable at Wallyworld. That’s freaking awesome. I’m finishing this up listening to Big Brother and The Holding Company. Cheap Thrills is an awesome album. It took me years to find a copy of this LP. My mother used to listen to this while cleaning the house.
I mean come on….that album is approved by the “81” of Frisco. Yes I know biker lingo. Yes I know a few 81s. You don’t grow up in So Cal and not know who Sonny Barger was. You can get a CD of it Here or vinyl, if your a bit more civilized. Vinyl really does sound better.
The kids also start summer school on Monday. It’s like a month long and will supposedly help the Middle One graduate early - cause like Sid Vicious said “school is a concentration camp”. Or something like that.
So I guess we will wrap it up here. So long from the land of storms, moonshine, and homesteaders.
Here’s this weeks spiciness…
Not saying its true (as I’m under a NDA), I’m just sayin I plan to ride my bike out west from now on.
I say I love you too Babe.
Pete says, "It's funny." :)
